Introduction to Asian Recipes :::...
The countries of Asia, provide a varied selection of cuisines, from
the basic spicy flavors of South India to the more subtle and
delicate dishes of Japan, where presentation, style and manner of
serving are as important as the taste of the food.
From Muslim Pakistan, where their pungent chicken and lamb dishes
satisfy the most demanding palate, to countries like Singapore,
which from a culinary standpoint is the most international of
States, where Chinese, Malay, Indian and Nonya styles all compete
for flavor, and where the famous food stalls provide delights that
could never be forgotten.
There is Thailand where the fiery little "green chilies" mixed with
local roots, grasses and aromatic herbs are used to produce
fantastic sauces and hot dishes. And there is Hong Kong, maybe the
world's greatest center for exotic Chinese food. Finally there is
Sri Lanka, once known as the 'Garden of Eden', the 'Pearl of the
Orient', and 'The Emerald Isle' and which was described by Vasco Da
Gama who traveled the Universe by sea, as the most beautiful country
on Earth.
With millions of Sri Lankans now domiciled in the United States of
America and so many other countries, it would be well for them to
patronize Sri Lankan recipes and shops that trade in Sri Lankan
goods. This will mean extra imports from their birth country and
assistance to tide over the ever-demanding cost of civil War At the
same time you will enjoy your meals at home more than ever.
Happy Cooking I wish you.
